UPS To Expand Keyless Entry Program To More Cities
Have you ever had a package from your porch or stoop? When I lived in Lawrence, KS, someone took a box with a phone charger off my front steps while I was at work. I haven't had any package stolen from my stoop in Brooklyn, but sometimes the box is "hidden" by our trash cans. More often than not, delivery drivers buzz a building until someone lets them in to drop the package in the foray. Is there a better way?
Latch
UPS has expanded their relationship with smart lock startup Latch to 10 more cities. Latch is a keyless entry program to allow common-area deliveries to multi-unit buildings. rivers cannot enter individual units. The company is similar to Amazon Key, who first wanted to unlock your front door, but now will settle for using your garage.
By the middle of the year, Latch will arrive in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, and Seattle. Latch is currently in San Francisco and New York.
Buildings must qualify for the program and then install Latch devices. Latch makes the hardware and software.
