My parents bought a new (to them) car last November. My mom was very pumped about the included backup and side camera.

"It has grid lines when you back up! The cameras change when I use my turn signal!" She happily exclaimed after she brought it home. When I came back to Kansas for Christmas, she proudly showed me how everything worked.

One of our first new products of 2018 is here! I'm proud to introduce the RVS-3710-DVR 7" Digital Quad Vie Color Monitor with Built-in DVR. This advanced monitor is equipped with GPS and a built-in DVR. The DVR records footage from all cameras connected. According to recent data from the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, 5,190 fatal work injuries occurred in 2016. This is a 7% increase from 2015. This is the third year in a row this number has increased.

At 40% (2,083) of the fatalities, transportation accidents remained the most common cause of work deaths. Violence committed by people or animals and On-the-job overdoses from non-medical use of drugs or alcohol are also high on the list.

Tesla's "Santa Mode" Easter egg is the latest holiday surprise from Elon Musk. Press the reindeer button to change your car into Santa's sleigh on the dash display. Other cars on the road become reindeer.

Santa mode also plays Chuck Berry's version of "Run Rudolph Run" when it first turns on. Turn signals will signal sleigh bells. The road ahead will appear icy fro cars with autopilot.

The feature can also be voice-activated. Press and hold the car's voice command button and say "Ho Ho Ho".

For many the holiday season is about spending time with family and friends. Personally I'm very excited to get out of New York for a little while and see my family back in Kansas.  I'm not the only on traveling for Christmas. Around 63.9 million Americans will travel over 50 miles from home during the Christmas holiday travel period. In an effort to increase safety, Chicago has passed an ordinance requiring security cameras and a licensed guard when alcohol is involved. The ordinance mandates that vehicles with a passenger capacity 15+ that include alcohol consumption during the trip or at interim stops must adhere to these rules.

Are you one of the estimated 51 million Americans traveling more than 50 miles this Thanksgiving weekend? I'm heading to my brother and sister-in-law's apartment in Red Hook, Brooklyn for a small Thanksgiving meal. I look forward to spending the day cooking, eating, and playing games. A recent video by YouTube channel Roadcams proves the effectiveness of Volvo's Automatic Emergency Braking Technology (AEB). The shocking footage shows a semi missing a running child running into traffic after being dropped of at a bus stop. This technology saved a child's life.

"#Stoponred" is the theme of this years National School Bus Safety Week, October 16-20. The theme was chosen from the winner of a safety poster the year before.

The week is for parents, students, motorists, school administrators, school bus operators to discuss the importance of bus safety. School districts throughout the country and also Canada observe National School Bus Safety Week the third full week of October every year.

A California state law effective July 2018 will require drivers and passengers of commercial buses, such as Greyhound, to wear seat belts. The law includes a $20 fine for the first violation and a $50 fine for the next. Parents are held responsible for making sure children under 16 are buckled up. The companies of charter buses are also responsible for children using seat belts.

A new study by Consumer Reports states that hot cars can be a threat for children year round, not just during the summer months.

Testing showed that the temperature inside a car reaching more than 105° F in just an hour, even with a temperature outside of 61°F.

"Temperatures that might seem comfortable for adults can quickly become dangerous for children," said Orly Avitzur, M.D., medical director for Consumer Reports in a statement. "And elderly passengers who can't care for themselves, or those with cognitive problems, can also be at risk if they're left in a car on even a mild day."
