- Aim your headlights correctly and make sure they’re clean.

A new study by Consumer Reports states that hot cars can be a threat for children year round, not just during the summer months.
Testing showed that the temperature inside a car reaching more than 105° F in just an hour, even with a temperature outside of 61°F.
"Temperatures that might seem comfortable for adults can quickly become dangerous for children," said Orly Avitzur, M.D., medical director for Consumer Reports in a statement. "And elderly passengers who can't care for themselves, or those with cognitive problems, can also be at risk if they're left in a car on even a mild day."

According to an estimate from the National Safety Council, as many as 40,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes last year. This is a 6% rise from 2015. Not only does the 360+ Bird’s Eye View System assist with lane changing cameras, erase blind spots and assist with parking navigation on narrow roads (most other 360° systems only have these features), it is also equipped with optional two side cameras to help with lane changes and highway driving.

The U.S Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) 2017 grants have been announced. The company has awarded over $70 million in grants to educational institutes as well as individual states to strengthen commercial motor vehicle safety.

Oregon's new distracted driving law goes into effect Oct. 1st. House Bill 2597 passed earlier this year, and includes a stricter ban on phone use while driving with higher fines that quickly escalate.

Closing Loopholes
The new law fixes a loophole in a 2009 version, which bans calls/texting, but includes nothing about navigation apps or games. The new version prohibits drives from using ANY phone function that requires holding or touching. You can use the phone to activate a preprogrammed route, but not to type in an address.

We had a great time at Buscon 2017 last week in Indianapolis, IN. We were proud to display our new RVS-77550 360+ Bird's Eye View System with Lane Changing Cameras.
While all other 360 systems help just for parking and tight driving situations. Our new 360+ helps with lane changing and highway driving as well! A bird's eye view around your vehicle is great, but the view is limited to just a couple of feet. I have good news and bad news. First the good news. According to a new report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, about 91% of adults always use seat belts in the front seat. Now here's the bad news. Only 72% of adults use seat belts when they are in the back of a car.
"For most adults, it's still as safe to ride in the back seat as the front seat, but not if you aren't buckled up," says Jessica Jermakian, an IIHS senior research engineer and a co-author of the study. "That applies to riding in an Uber, Lyft or other hired vehicle, too."
