The Call Me Out app was the winning idea developed during a Chevy-sponsored hackathon with students at Wayne State University in Detroit. This app uses recorded messages from the driver's friends and family to deter distracted driving. These audio messages combined with an image of a wagging finger keep the driver focused on the road.
Call Me Out uses the phone's built-in accelerometer and GSP to determine if it picked up whenever speeds increase above 5 MPH.

In Georgia and South Carolina, drivers can now get a DUI for drowsy driving. Because there is no test to to determine the sleepiness of a driver, it is up to the discretion of the officer whether to cite a DUI. A field test will determine if driver drowsiness is a factor in diminished driving ability.
The NSF's Sleep in America poll found when "driving drowsy, 42 percent of those polled said they become stressed, 32 percent get impatient and 12 percent tend to drive faster."
