This summer is the perfect time for a long road trip, and not just because you have a new RV. According to AAA, gas prices are the lowest they’ve been since 2004. The drop is due to declining crude oil costs and abundant fuel suppliers.
Average gas prices are below $2 (2 dollars!) a gallon in seven states, including: Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and South Carolina. In the entire United States around 1 in 4 gas stations are selling gas for less than $2 a gallon. Baring large unexpected events, such as a natural disaster or a distributor issue, it looks like this...

These are also known as sobriety checkpoints. This is a brief detention developed by police for the purpose of investigating and evaluating passing motorists for drunk driving. These roadblocks on public roadways do not only give the police the chance to check tags and licenses or peer into the vehicle for a moment, they also give them an opportunity to whiff the driver’s breath. It is determined by a policy-making official with logical reasons.
The police closely monitor the cars approaching a DUI checkpoint, so if you are guilty of a DUI, then you might be on the wrong side of the law. The State...

If you’re still new to driving, it can be tricky to stay out of people's way on the highway. Most people don’t know how to handle fast drivers. Here’s what you need to know.
Take Someone With You

Crash test dummies have long been used to simulate accidents in the front seat. It’s time for them to switch seats. Pressure is on to better protect rear passengers, as ride-sharing programs such as Uber and Lyft are putting more people in the backseat. Starting in 2019, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will test crash test dummies in the back seat as part of its 5-Star Safety Ratings Program. While this program is 38 years old, it has only tested and rated driver and front passenger seats thus far.
“People assume a 5-star rating extends to all seating locations, but it...

New research released earlier this week by the AAA showed that rear view back-up cameras found in many new vehicles increased visibility of the rear blind-zone area by an average of 46 percent. Tests conducted by the group indicated that these systems, intended to improve driver awareness of the area immediately behind the vehicle in order to reduce back-over fatalities, can save lives.
“As Halloween approaches, we know that neighborhoods will be filled with small trick-or-treaters that could easily be missed when the driver turns his head to look behind the vehicle,” John Nielsen, AAA’s managing...

One in five parents of young children bend the car safety rules by allowing kids to ride without seat belts, car seats, or booster seats, says Linda Carroll of NBC News. Even more shocking is that 61% have seen other parents bending the rules when carpooling, according to a report released this week by Safe Kids Worldwide.
Funded by the General Motors Foundation, the report was based on an online survey of 1,000 parents of kids from 4-10. What is the exact number of carpooling parents who fail to use restraints? That is a statistic that would be hard to come by.
“Somewhere between...
