Have you ever been stuck at a red light with no traffic? A new law in Utah would allow vehicles to go through a red-light if the driver stops first, and safety looks in all directions. House Bill 416 was suggested to Representative Ken Ivory by a constituent.
Red Light Law
“He was on his way to the airport, stuck at a red light- we’ve all been there-,” said Rep. Ivory as he told the constituent’s story. “The red light was terminal; one after another after another and nobody is here, nobody is here. He went through the red light. After analyzing dashboard videos from 700 accidents, the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found that 9.5% of all crashes involved drowsy driving, based on the portion of time the operators' eyes were closed in the minutes before a crash. This statistic grows to nearly 11% in severe crashes.

My parents bought a new (to them) car last November. My mom was very pumped about the included backup and side camera.
"It has grid lines when you back up! The cameras change when I use my turn signal!" She happily exclaimed after she brought it home. When I came back to Kansas for Christmas, she proudly showed me how everything worked.
Many new vehicles now come standard with backup and/or side cameras. It makes sense. Laws are changing, and the new generation are learning to drive with cameras. The question remains, how can I make my parents even safer? After hearing all about my mom's backup...
